Dominique Senequier joined the AXA Group in 1996 and founded AXA Private Equity, which she has built up at a steady and regular pace. Today, the company manages and advises 32 billion US dollars of assets with a team of 300 employees based in 10 offices across the world. She currently serves as a member of Schneider Electric’s supervisory board and is a non-executive member of the board of Compagnie Industriali Riunite, the Italian conglomerate.
She began her career as Insurance Commissioner, where she worked from 1975 until 1980. She joined GAN in 1980 where she worked until 1996, in reinsurance, international development and private equity.
Dominique Senequier graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1972 and holds a DEA (post-graduate degree) in Banking and Monetary Economics from the Sorbonne University. She is a member of the French Actuarial Institute.
Dominique Gaillard joined AXA Private Equity in 1997, where he manages Small and Mid Market Enterprise Capital, Co-Investment and Infrastructure activities as well as the development of direct funds activities in Eastern Europe and Asia. Previously he spent seven years with Charterhouse France, starting as Project Manager and progressing to a Director and member of the Executive Board. He began his career at Péchiney.
Dominique Gaillard graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1979, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, IAE and holds a Master of Science from UC Berkeley.
Before joining AXA Private Equity in 1998, where he develops and manages the Fund of Funds business, Vincent Gombault worked in AXA Group’s Industrial Holdings department (1991-1998) after a spell as Investment Manager in the M&A department of Société Générale. He began his career at the French Trade Commission in Detroit (USA). He also lectures at ESSEC.
Vincent Gombault has a master’s degree in Financial Techniques from ESSEC and a DESS (post-graduate professional degree) in Banking and Finance. He also holds a degree in Law and a master’s degree in Economics.
Before launching AXA Private Equity Germany in 2001, Stephan Illenberger was a Managing Partner of Doertenbach & Co, an independent management company for three years. Prior to this, he was Head of Corporate Finance Germany at NatWest Markets and CEO of York Hannover. From 1987-1992 he was Director of Bayerische Vereinsbank in the M&A department. He started his career at McKinsey.
Stephan Illenberger holds an MBA from the University of Munich and an MA in Economics from Chicago University.
Benoît Verbrugghe joined the Fund of Funds team in 1999 where he spent 11 years in Paris. Since July 2010, he’s the Head of the AXA Private Equity New York office. Benoît Verbrugghe began his career in 1998 working in M&A at a consulting firm. He is a member of the Board of AXA Private Equity Foundation since 2010.
