Camaïeu

Activity

Camaïeu is the leader in France for ready-to-wear ladies fashion clothes. The group designs and markets its own collections, aimed at young women between 20 and 40 looking for seductive, easy to wear and affordable wear. It has 3 million customers and an excellent brand image.

History

From its creation in 1984, Camaïeu has strongly developed through opening up new boutiques across France. On the international front, Camaïeu is successfully pursuing a development programme that involves rolling out the same concept. During 2004 the group opened 46 outlets including 28 branches in France and abroad. Camaïeu now operates in 8 countries (France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, the near East and Russia) with 442 outlets including 373 in France.

Strategy

The group is looking to continue a controlled growth strategy both in France and abroad with the opening of 30 to 40 outlets.

Divestment

In May 2007 AXA Private Equity has transfered 100% of Modamax, the controlling shareholder of Camaïeu, to Modacin, a holding company
controlled by investment funds which are managed by the capital investment fund Cinven.

The transfer of Modamax was organised in respect for a continuation of the strategy of speeding up Camaïeu's growth and development, both in France and internationally, proudly supported by AXA Private Equity.
