AXA Private Equity appoints Stephan Illenberger Member of Global Executive Committee

AXA Private Equity has announced that Stephan Illenberger, the Managing Director responsible for Germany, has been appointed a member of the Global Executive Committee of the international private equity house which is already composed with Dominique Senequier, Chief Executive Officer, Dominique Gaillard, Managing Director Direct Funds and Vincent Gombault, Managing Director Fund of Funds.

Besides managing the company’s business in Germany, Stephan Illenberger will play a substantial role in shaping the global strategy of AXA Private Equity. Meanwhile, AXA Private Equity is planning to further expand its business in Germany, which is seen as one of the key markets besides France.

Dominique Senequier, CEO of AXA Private Equity adds: “Stephan’s appointment reflects the work he has done and the importance we place in the German market. Stephan and his team will continue to expand our activities in Germany. At the same time, he will now contribute his expertise globally.”

Before joining AXA Private Equity in 2001, Stephan Illenberger was co-owner of Doertenbach & Co., an independent management company for four years. Previous to this, he was Head of Corporate Finance at NatWest Markets in Germany. From 1987-1992 he was an Associate Director with Bayerische Vereinsbank working on M&A transactions.
