Paris, Monday September 6, 2004

French Start-up, First Provider of Rich Media Browsing Solutions for Mobiles, Achieves Record Financing Led by AXA Private Equity and Including T-Source, FTTI and GET Valorisation.

Streamezzo, a company originating from technologies developed by France Telecom R&D and ENST, today announced its first financing round led by AXA Private Equity and with key participations from T-Source, France Telecom Technologies Investissements (FTTI) and GET Valorisation for a total of € 5 million, these two last companies having in addition made with Streamezzo a contribution technologies resulting from their R&D's activities.

Following several years of research around the MPEG-4 standard, Streamezzo created a solution revolutionizing the mobile phone experience: Rich Media Browsing. Starting from a bandwidth of 10kb/s, the technology enables for the first time to stream and browse audio, video and graphical animations simultaneously on a mobile phone screen.

Thanks to Streamezzo, telecom operators and content providers can now create graphically appealing Web sites that can include fun and vivid presentations, all readable from a cell phone. Streamezzo provides mobile browsing for all by creating quality sites equivalent to those on the Web, with an unprecedented interface and ease-of-use. These features contribute to impulse buying and reinforce non-voice services utilisation.

The Streamezzo offer is built on an open software suite which includes a browser (Streamezzo Browser), a multimedia-based application server (Streamezzo Service Node) and a site development tool (Streamezzo Studio).

“Streamezzo will use the capital to meet the already growing demand from mobile operators and content providers and to rapidly build an international presence,” said Stephane Roder CEO of Streamezzo.
