Venture Capital was neglected after the internet bubble burst but is now once
again in the spotlight during the current boom for technological innovation in
various sectors such as biotechnologies, telecoms etc and clearly identified
opportunities. The financing of start-ups with major prospects for future growth
has turned into one of the major activities of private equity. We have been
operational on this market since 1998 applying the know-how of our Venture
Capital staff in order to raise funds and consult innovative high-potential
companies involved in high-tech life sciences sectors.
Approach
- Minority interest investment of €2m to €5m in recent companies or
start-ups involved in new technologies.
- Funding provided by successive share issues until a potential IPO or an
industrial sale.
- We contribute the experience of our Management Board team, the
senior members of our Venture Capital team and reputed outside experts on the
Venture Capital investment committee regarding investment opportunities,
financial structures and management of companies in the portfolio.
Methodology
- The Venture Capital team take investment decisions after approval from the
investment committee.
- We are closely involved in consulting companies in their growth strategy,
financial management, and human resources policies.
- We provide long-term support.
Criteria
- High-tech sector (e.g. information technologies, life sciences,
electronics etc.).
- Project is innovative in nature.
- Potential growth in the market.
- The growth strategy is relevant and clear.
- The company has the means to win significant market
share.
